Football : Arsenal FC Transfers 2009-2010 Season
All the Arsenal fans were hoping for a more a lot more transfers to happen than that actually took place. Again in this season, there were more players going out than coming in.
The first transfer of the season was done very fast. Thomas Vermaelen, who captained Ajax came to Arsenal for 10 Million Pounds. Thomas Vermaelen is a left footed central defender. Judging from the games he has played for Arsenal till now, he looks solid and has formed a formidable partnership with William Gallas. I think it was a very good buy. Vermaelen is young, good in the air and is not afraid to get stuck in. Lets hope he stays fit.
One transfer actually made a lot of Arsenal fans happy, including me. Emanuel Adebayor left Arsenal for a fee of around 25 Million Pound Sterling. That was a good thing for me. He caused more problems than not and considering his previous season with Arsenal, Adebayor looked disinterested when he played for Arsenal in the 08-09 season. Adebayor left Arsenal to join Manchester City. Good riddance.
The other transfer was of Kolo Abib Toure. Most off the fan's didn't like this transfer though. Kolo Toure was Mr. Arsenal and had been with Arsenal for quite a long time and he was the only remaining "Invinsibles" at the Arsenal. Well, I didn't like the transfer either but looking at his last season's performance, he was on the downtrend. William Gallas and Toure didn't get along very well. Well, business well done, Mr Wenger. Kolo Toure was bought for less that 200,000 Pound and sold for around 16 Million Pound to Manchester City.
