Football: Arsenal Transfer Rumors
Now that Arsenal's season is all but lost without any silverware, the only thing to look forward to for the next couple of months it the transfer rumors that are linked with Arsenal.
Recently there has been some transfer rumors linking Alexander Hleb to Inter Milan. Alexander Hleb still has 2 years left in his contract and Arsene Wenger doesn't want to sell him. Wenger says, he will report Inter Milan to Fifa about how they approached Alex Hleb.
Mathieu Flamini might leave Arsenal as his contract is up this summer and he still hasn't signed a new deal with Arsenal. He is currently linked with a move to AC Milan. I think that is a very bad move on his part. He won't be as good as he is at Arsenal as it is the style of play and the players around him that makes him what he is at Arsenal. Well he has until this Monday at the most to sign a new contract with Arsenal.
The most recent rumors in the transfer market that are linked with Arsenal is Barcelona and Francesc Fabregas. It is rediculous. Arsene Wenger will never sell Fabregas, well not in the near future.Barcelona are planning an audacious £30m bid for Arsenal's Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas. The Catalan club may offer Samuel Eto'o, Deco, Eidur Gudjohnsen or former Gunner Thierry Henry in a part-exchange deal. (Daily Star)
That is a bit flattering but that is not going to happen. Fabregas is an integral part of Arsenal and Wenger won't sell the teams engine.
Another player that is linked to Arsenal but this time, coming to Arsenal is David Villa. I would like nothing more than to see David Villa at Arsenal next season but Real Madrid has reportedly made an offer to Valencia worth £24m. Tottenham has also shown interest in David Villa but the player has come out and said he won't play for the spuds. The most likely team he would join in England is Arsenal if Wenger can cough up some cash for him.Tottenham look set to miss out on Valencia striker David Villa as Real Madrid have made a £24m bid for the Spain international.
Lets see what happens. Arsenal Wenger Plz bring David Villa to Arsenal next season, we need a striker of his capacity.
Football : UEFA Champion's League Draw

Arsenal vs AC Milan was the game of the first knock-out round. We has to now move on to the quarter finals and the semi finals. Just today, the draws for these matches was shown live on TV. I have been waiting for this for the whole week. I was a bit disheartened as Arsenal drew Liverpool at home. The first team to be picked out of the bowl was Arsenal. Chelsea and Barcelona got the easiest ties of them all. Barcelona got Schalke 04 and Chelsea got Fenerbahce. Both these matches, on paper are a sure win but its football and anything can happen.
If Arsenal can keep another clean sheet at home against Liverpool as they did against AC Milan, they have a good chance of going through to the semi-finals (I say this because of the away goals rules, if Arsenal can score at Anfield, they can just draw the game and win the tie).
Here are the draws that came out today:
Champions League quarter-final draw:
Arsenal v Liverpool (First leg 2 Apr/Second leg 8 Apr)
AS Roma v Man Utd (First leg 1 Apr/Second leg 9 Apr)
Schalke 04 v FC Barcelona (First leg 1 Apr/Second leg 9 Apr)
Fenerbahce v Chelsea (First leg 2 Apr/Second leg 8 Apr)
Champions League semi-final draw:
Arsenal/Liverpool v Fenerbahce/Chelsea
Schalke/Barcelona v AS Roma/Man Utd
Arsenal have a tough tasks if they want to reach the final. Even if Arsenal beat Liverpool, they will most probably face Chelsea in the semi-finals. Well, I just hope and pray that all the Arsenal players are fit and in great form from the quarter final stage to the final match as I want to see Arsenal win their first ever UEFA Champion's League trophy.
Football: Eduardo Da Silva's injury

Last week while playing an away match against Birmingham, Eduardo got a horrendous injury in just the third minute of the start. Taylor, Birmingham's defender made a calculation mistake when making a lunge for the ball. Eduardo, who is a lot quicker moved the ball quickly than Taylor expected and his challenge for the ball ended up being challenge on Eduardo's shin. As soon as Eduardo went down, Fabregas knew it was a very bad injury.
The expression of Fabregas told it all for me. At first I thought it was just a knock. It took 10 minutes for the physio to take Eduardo off on the stretcher. The channel the game was on refused to show the replay deeming it too graphic for viewers. Later on, I searched for it on google and found the horrific injury Eduardo suffered. I hope all the best to Eduardo. I hope the awesome talent doesn't go to waste. It is a career threatening injury but I think Eduardo can come back and be ready for Arsenal in under a year. He is an optimistic person so that could be very possible.
Eduardo will be missing the 2008 Euro though. It is really sad as he was the main force that got Croatia on that international competition. Eduardo has already been released from the hospital and will be able to walk on crutches in about six weeks. So good news for him and all of his fans and Arsenal fans.

Football: Arsenal vs Manchester United - FA Cup
Arsenal have drawn Manchester United for their next FA Cup tie. Arsenal had beaten Newcastle in the previous FA Cup round and now there is another tough game in the horizon. Not only Arsenal are playing Manchester United, they have to play at Old Traford. This could really test the young Arsenal side. There is one good site to this story, Arsenal have regained their form and have beaten some tough teams in the past couple of weeks.
I don't think either Manchester United or Arsenal wanted to play each other on a FA Cup tie just before the UEFA Champion's League is about to resume. Arsenal have a tough tie in the UEFA Champion's league. They have to play AC Milan and that too at San Siro. I just hope all the players including Robin Van Persie, Tomas Rosicky and Kolo Toure are fit till then and also I hope no one gets injured in the FA Cup tie against Manchester United.
Football : Arsenal 3-1 Manchester City BPL

Arsenal were still tied in points with Manchester United and were in second place because of the goal difference. But this weekend's matches changes the top two positions. Arsenal had to play Manchester City away from home where Manchester City were unbeaten this season. But looking at Manchester City's current for it was not a big deal for Arsenal. Arsenal Vs Manchester City was played yesterday at City of Manchester Stadium. Arsenal had a great start and were playing their trademark football from the start and just at the 9 minute mark, Arsenal were 1 goal up. Emmanuel Adebayor who just can't stop scoring goals scored the first goal for Arsenal from Bacary Sagna's cross. It was a bit of a lucky goal but still a goal is a goal.
At the mid way thought the first half, Arsenal scored again with the help of the new arsenal striker Eduardo Da Silva. The goal was brilliantly constructed by Arsenal with another of their flowing moves which ended in Adebayor cushioned header to Eduardo who score a magnificent overhead kick which resulted in Arsenal's second goal.
Just after Arsenal's second goal, Manchester city were back in the game with a goal of their own which in part was a mistake from Gael Clichy as much as the determination of Verdan Corluka who stole the ball away from Clichy at the touch line and passed it to Fernandes who consequently scored. In the second half, Arsenal were in a bit of a back foot playing a bit conservatively. Manchester City created some half chances in the second half but failed to convert any. Just before the full time, Adebayor scored another goal for Arsenal which killed off the game.

Football: Arsenal vs Newcastle FA Cup fourth round

Arsenal had a bit of a difficult tie against a premiership side Newcastle in the fourth round of the FA Cup. It was a bit difficult match compared to other draws. Arsenal had to play a Newcastle team with a new manager, Kevin Keagan. Arsenal looked comfortable in the entire match but Newcastle were no pushover by any means. The scoreline was a bit flattering for Arsenal. First half was goalless but there were some scoring chances for both teams.
In the second half, it was a different issue. Arsenal scored the first goal with the help of Emanuel Adebayor who just can't stop scoring this season, in the 50th minute of the FA Cup tie. Second goal was again score by Adebayor in the 84th minute and the game was done and dusted with but there was still some agony for Newcastle. Arsenal scored again with and this time around it was an own goal by Nicky Butt, Newcastle's player. If you want a full review of Arsenal 3-0 Newcastle FA Cup 4rth round tie, visit this link.
Football: Arsenal vs Fulham

Arsenal had to play fulham today at the same time as Manchester United. Both Arsenal and Manchester United are battling for the top spot and Manchester United are on top by goal difference right now. Arsenal had to play a fulham side that is struggling to stay afloat in the premiership.
Manchester United had to play another struggling side, Reading and it looked like an almost certain win for both teams and that is what happened. Manchester United scored two goals in the whole game without conceding a goal and got a victory against reading. Reading played very well but Manchester United were just too much for them.
Arsenal had a much easier match that Manchester United and as expected they got a 3-0 victory against Fulham. Arsenal were dropping balls in from the by line and the tactic was fruitful as Adebayor scored two headers from two magnificent cross, one from Gael Clichy and the other one from Alexander Hleb. You can read the full match review of Arsenal 3-0 Fulham here.
Manchester United are still on top but just on goal difference. Anything can happen in the coming months so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Football: Arsenal vs Blackburn Carling Cup

Arsenal played Blackburn tuesday at Ewood park. It was a Carling Cup match and Arsenal fielded lot of youth players. Lukasz Fabianski, Philippe Senderos, Justin Hoyte, Armand Traore, Alexandre Song, Denilson, Mark Randall, Abou Diaby, Lassana Diarra, Eduardo and Nicklas Bendtner were in the starting lineup. Blackburn had almost all the first team players but there were some big changed for Arsenal in the back as Manuel Almunia, Kolo Toure, William Gallas, Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy were replaced by Lukasz Fabianski, Philippe Senderos, Justin Hoyte and Armand Traore.
Arsenal took the lead in just the 6th minutes from the start with the help of Abu Diaby's goal. Arsenal were 2 goals up within 29th minute, this time Eduardo scored the goal. Santa Cruz scored a goal for Blackburn in the 41st minute but Arsenal managed to go into half time with a one goal lead.
In the second half, Santa Cruz again his second goal in the 59th minute making the scoreline level. The score at the end of the 90 minutes was Arsenal 2-2 Blackburn and the match went into extra time. Eduardo managed to get his second goal of the game in 105th minute and the match finished Arsenal 3-2 Blackburn. You can read about Arsenal 3-2 Blackburn here.
Football: Arsenal vs Chelsea

Arsenal had to play one of the Englands Top four club, Chelsea. It was a home game and was played at the Emirates stadium. A lot of key Arsenal were injured during the week but Fabregas, Flamini and Hleb all started the match. The formation Arsenal play with was a kind of 4-4-1-1 with Hleb playing behind Adebayor. Arsene Wenger has almost given him a free role. The match was not at all disappointing. Hard tackles were flying all around the park and one of the key Chelsea player, John Terry got injured from a rash challenge by Emanuel Eboue. John Terry had to be substituted.
Arsenal were playing a bit better than Chelsea and created some chances. Right at the end of the first half, Arsenal got a corner and William Gallas scored from it. It was all thank to Peter Cech's bad judgment. It was an open game in the second half and still there were hard tackles coming from all directions and there were some flash points. Remember, Arsenal and Chelsea's Carling Cup final game last year?
Chelsea had to come out and attach arsenal's back line to level the score line but that left Chelsea vulnerable to superfast counter attacks by Arsenal. There were a lot of chances created at both ends and the scoreline could have been anything but with luck, good defense and great technical ability, Arsenal managed to survive and the scoreline at the end of the final whistle was Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea. This was Arsenal's first win against chelsea since February 2004 and managed to regain the Barclays Premier League's top spot from Manchester Untied who had occupied the spot for a couple of hours.
Football: Arsenal vs Chelsea match preview

Arsenal have already qualified for the champion's league in second place behind Sevilla . Now other teams that qualified in first place must be a bit worried. Arsenal could get Barcelona or even AC Milan in the first knock out round. Last weekend Arsenal lost their first Barclays Premier league match against Middlesbrough and this weekend, on sunday Arsenal will have another difficult encounter with Chelsea. Arsenal will play Chelsea at the emirates stadium and Arsenal's home record is damn good.
Arsenal v Chelsea Barclays Premier League match will be played at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, December 16, 2007. This game will kickoff at 4pm. There are some good news though, Francesc Fabregas, Alexander Hleb and Matheu Flamini are all back in training and they could play against Chelsea. Check out Arsenal vs Chelsea match preview here.
Football: Arsenal lost their first game
Last week, Arsenal lost their first match this season in the Barklays Premier League. The match was played against Middlesbrough. This was an away match but Arsenal have been playing well away from home too but in this match most of the vital first team players were injured. Middlesbrough managed to score an early goal thanks to the eagerness of Manual Almunia to come out of his post and making Kolo Toure to foul him as a consequence. A penalty was awarded and Steward Downing scored from it. Middlesbrough were ahead in just 4 minites of the start.
Arsenal didn't perform well at all and they looked a bid jaded because of the busy schedule before Christmas and also don't forget, Francesc Fabregas, Matheu Flamini, Robin Van Persie and Alexander Hleb were not even on the bench because of the injuries. Middlesbrough were two goals ahead in the seventy fourth minute thanks to the goal of Tuncay Sanli. This has to be Arsenal's worst performance this season till today. Arsenal managed to score a consolation goal in injury time. That was the best move Arsenal made in the whole match. A great one touch passing move from the left led to Tomas Rosicky scoring a consolation goal. You can read Middlesbrough 2-1 Arsenal match report here.

Football: Arsenal's highlights and lowlights till november
If you are an Arsenal Fan, you should not miss this. Arsenal have been in great form this season. Nobody gave Arsenal any chance of winning the title or even staying close to the top club but this has been proved wrong as they are in the top of the league and are three points ahead of the second position team, Manchester United and Arsenal still have a game in hand. The form Arsenal are in this season, the FA might as well hand them the Premier League title right now, lol (just kidding) but Arsenal have a huge chance of winning the league for real.
Ok, I found this video on footytube and I thought Arsenal fans would like it. This video has all the Arsenals highlights for the 2007-08 season till now.
I will be writing a review of Arsenal vs Newcastle tomorrow. I didn't catch the live game so I will have to view the highlights and write a review then.
I absolutely love Arsenal football club

I have been following Arsenal since their last league win. Before that, i was not really into watching of playing football but Arsenal got me hooked to football. I absolutely magnificent the way Arsenal play football, that was the reason I started watching Arsenal and became a huge follower of Arsenal and the philosophy Arsene Wenger ( Arsenal's manager) has instilled into the Arsenal football club. the fluid passing movement of Arsenal is really easy on the eye. I play basketball and when I look at Arsenal play, it looks as if they are playing basketball, the one touch passing, the fast pace of Arsenal's play really seems as if they are playing basketball in some aspects.
I am currently watching Arsenal vs Aston Villa and Arsenal went a goal down in just a couple of minutes of the start. I wasn't at all worried about Arsenal going one goal down as I knew Arsenal were always liable to score goals. What I said just before came true, Arsenal scored the equalizer with the help of Alexander Hleb's never give up attitude and a great cross from Emmanuel Eboue, Matheu Flamini scored from the resulting cross just inside the 18 yard box with a powerful shot. Emmanuel Adebayor scored with his head in about 40 minutes of the first half from a beautiful cross from Bacary Sagna from the right. Arsenal are now 2-1 up at Villa Park and the half time whistle just blew.
I will be posting about the full match later. At the mean time, check out these articles.
Arsenal's Best Formation for 2007-2008 season
Arsenal vs Aston Villa Preview
Football: Arsenal's Best Formation for 2007-2008 season
Arsenal's Best Formation: 4-4-2
Arsenal played with a 4-5-1 formation for the last couple of years, I never liked it but it was not a bad formation but I think 4-4-2 is the best formation for Arsenal. Well if Robin Van Persie is not available, Arsenal always play 4-5-1 with a two wide attacking wingers who come inside the box and an attacking player from the midfield. Arsenal also have another adopted another formation this year, a 4-4-1-1 with Alexander Hleb or Tomas Rosicky playing behind the striker, Emmanuel Adebayor. I still don't like Emmanuel Adebayor, he is not consistent enough for me and he still has to improve on this finishing. I think Emmanuel Adebayor is developing a big ego which is not good for Arsenal (He wants to be the next Thierry Henry which is not going to happen). Well, I will write about that in the future. Lets talk about Arsenal's Best formation.
Still I think, Arsenal's Best formation is 4-4-2 with two out and out striker playing on top, preferably Robin Van Persie and Emmanuel Adebayor. This formation allows Robin Van Persie to play off of Emmanuel Adebayor. The formation and the player selection below is the best formation and players for this season till now.
Manuel Almunia
Bacary Sagna
Kolo Toure
William Gallas
Gael Clichy
Alexander Hleb
Francesc Fabregas
Mathieu Flamini
Tomas Rosicky
Robin Van Persie
Emmanuel Adebayor
What do you think Arsenal's Best formation is?
You can Vote for Arsenal's best XI here.
Arsenal need to get a quality central defender in the January transfer window as if the first choice center backs get injured, Arsenal might get into some trouble as there are no quality center backs to replace either William Gallas or Kolo Toure.

Arsenal vs Aston Villa Preview
Football: Arsenal vs Aston Villa Preview

After loosing their first match against Sevilla, Arsenal now have to play their first Barklays Premier League game against, Aston Villa. Aston Villa are a good team and Arsenal should not under estimate them. Aston Villa's young talented striker, Gabriel Agbonlahor is in great form and has been scoring goals for fun for both his club Aston Villa and the England Under 21 team.
Arsenal will play Aston Villa tomorrow away from home at Villa Park. Arsenal are the in form team in the Barklays Premier League right now and I hope it stays that way till the end of the season. Arsenal are three points ahead of the second team in the league, Manchester United with a game in hand.
After the Sevilla game, Arsenal's in form star mid-fielder, Francesc Fabregas is injured and will not be featured against Aston Villa. That would be quite a relief for Aston Villa but still Arsenal have enough talent to get a win at Villa Park.

UEFA Champion's League: First round of group stage matches concludes
A great start to the UEFA champion's league group stage first round. Not all the clubs got the desired result. Chelsea were the big losers as they lost a game where they should have secured all three points. Rosenborg are not a great site compared to chelsea. Liverpool also had a poor result but they were down to ten men after Jermaine Pennant was shown his second yellow card. Well if you consider that, Liverpool would be happy to get one point away from home with just ten men.
The team I support, Arsenal got a great start to their UEFA Champion's League campaign beating Sevilla 3-0 comfortably. Arsenal are the form team right now and the spirit that Arsenal are showing this season is just great. I hope this form continues to the end of the season. Well maybe thats just too much positive thinking. All teams have a bad patch at one point or another in the whole season.
Barcelona vs Lyon was another match to watch and it didn't disappoint at all. A very positive display by Barcelona. Lyon didn't show much and the whole game was dominated by Barcelona. Barcelona score three goals with no reply by Lyon. First goal Lyon conceded was an own goal but other two were not. The third and final goal of the match was scored by Thierry Henry. Manchester United played against Sporting Lisbon and won 1-0. So a good result for all the top teams on the second day of the champion's league group stage match.
Football : Thierry Henry exits Arsenal

After a long and prosperous career with Arsenal, Thierry Henry, Arsenal's hit man who struck fear into opponents heart will no longer play in the English Premier League. After a very disappointing season in 2006/2007 with Arsenal, Thierry Henry has decided to leave Arsenal and sign a four year deal with Barcelona.Arsenal met Barcelona in the 2006 UEFA Champion's League finals and lost. After that, there was some speculation of Thierry Henry leaving for Barcelona but he decided to sign a four year contract with Arsenal and end his career at the Emirates Stadium.
But that was not to happen because of some situation regarding the club. But I think that was only an excuse to leave Arsenal as Thierry Henry want to win the Champion's League before he retires and there is not a lot of hope of Arsenal wining the UEFA Champion's League any time soon.
This season , Thierry Henry was injured most of the time and only played about 20 game the whole season. This was due to a jam packed 2005/2006 season. Thierry Henry played a lot of games that season and reached the Champion's League final stage but lost. And just a couple of weeks later he played in the 2006 World Cup and again reached the World Cup final and lot to Italy.
Arsenal agreed a free of £16.1 million for the transfer of Arsenal's captain and the record breaking goal scorer, Thierry Henry which I think is a bad deal for Arsenal. Even Daren Bent costs £17 million, how come Arsenal sold Thierry Henry for just a mere 16 million.
I am a huge Arsenal fan and I would have love to see Thierry Henry finish his career at Arsenal like Denis Bergkamp but as we all know , Henry has transferred to Barcelona. Arsenal is in a state of panic, well the Arsenal fans are. There is only one year left in Arsene Wenger's contract and that has increased the tensions. Wenger said that he will only thing about the contract after it ends and the press are saying that he will follow Thierry Henry's lead and leave Arsenal. That would be a huge, I mean massive blow to all Arsenal. A lot bigger than Thierry Henry leaving. I just hope that Arsene Wenger extends his contract. If Arsene Wenger leaves next season, Arsenal will be in a real state of turmoil then. Wenger won't be leaving this season for sure as he has always honored his contract and he still has a year left in the contract. We will not know what Arsene Wenger's decision will be until the end of next season.
The great Arsenal and king Henry
I have another blog related to football specially Arsenal football club.I have been watching them play for about 5 6 years now.The first thing that made me look at Arsenal was the goals Thierry Henry scored which I watch on football highlights on tv.The way he scored the goals just pulled me closer and closer to football. Before that I did not watch much football.Thierry Henry was not like any other striker ,he was very calculating and a great finisher. After watching his goals on tv ,I started watching him play.Suddenly I was introduced to the magnificent style of play that Arsenal used.It was so flowing and mesmerizing to my eyes. When I started watching football ,all the talk was about Manchester United but I was just drawn to Arsenal as if a moth to the flames. After that happened ,I have never missed a match they played .And this year they are playing even better football that they did in the past years.I do not plan on missing any match they play till the day I die.
